Once a sleepy suburb of Vancouver, Burnaby has gone through a boom that started after Expo 86 and the installation of rapid transit above ground Skytrain line. Today the City of Burnaby has distinct communities within the city. Metrotown is undergoing massive development with the ever growing Metrotown mall, North Burnaby has remained quaint with it’s shops and now has it’s own Skytrain line connecting to downtown Vancouver. Other areas include neighbourhoods nearby Simon Fraser University, one of Vancouver’s top University.

Burnaby has a great feel to the city with excellent parks, nature, two lakes (Deer lake park & Burnaby Lake) and access to water ways, specifically up the Burrard Inlet and the Barnet Marine Park is likely one of Burnaby’s best kept secrets.

Starting from the waters of Vancouver Harbour, you have Lonsdale Quay Public Market shops and restaurants and Lower Lonsdale with parks, grocery stores, restaurants all all amenities needed. What was the one time capital of BC, New Westminster today is a city on the move. It’s history dates back to when the Fraser River was the lifeline of the Western frontier. New West was originally selected in 1859 as the capital for the new colony of British Columbia and seen it’s share of ups and downs, including the great fire of 1898.

Today New West or the ‘Royal City’ is punching above it’s weight with new developments, towering cranes and new infrastructure projects underdevelopment or planned.
