
Day Trip in White Rock
Separate from the hum of downtown Vancouver, White Rock about 1 hours drive south from downtown Vancouver along Highway 99 has become a top tourist destination.
White Rock beach is the biggest draw with its famous pier that opened in 1914 is great to visit day and night. The shop filled Marine Drive across from the Pier has a wide collection of unique shops and restaurants of all kind; amongst the most unique is Charlie Don’t Surf. Dolce Gelato serves up traditional Italian ice cream.
The White Rock Promenade extends several kilometers over East beach and West beach and when the tide is out there is plenty of sand, tide pools perfect for all.
Each year there is the Sand Castle competition held on BC long weekend, or usually the first weekend of August. This weekend-long festival is perfect for all ages but arrives early as parking is limited.
